When I called to get the rates that they offer for wedding music, it was explained to me like this- Bob Egan Entertainment screens the musicians that they send to you so that you don't have to do it yourself. They have hand-picked a group of djs, vocalists, musicians- whatever you need entertainment-wise for your wedding or special event- who are of the best quality. The prices were affordable, I hired both my DJ and acoustic guitarist from them. I was sort of 'assigned' to my DJ based on availability, but hired the guitarist based on samples of his music available on the Bob Egan website & they also mailed me a CD of his music from which to work from. Though skeptical at first about putting so much trust in their hands I decided to hire them, because after all, it wasn't a total shot in the dark- the company came recommended from the venue where I held my wedding. And as I came to realize after repeated trips to the New Hope area during the course of my wedding planning, Bob Egan Entertainment is kind of a household name for entertainment in that area. There are fliers up everywhere for live music in various bars and restaurants and cafés where the entertainment is provided by Bob Egan Entertainment. I'm glad that I let them do the work for me, because my DJ for my reception and acoustic guitarist for cocktail hour were both superb. They were easy to work with prior to the wedding and both myself, the groom and our guests were happy with the quality of the entertainment provided at our wedding too. The DJ was very open to my many song requests and did a good job at honoring my wishes with regard to songs that I wanted to hear, and he also succeeded at keeping the party going strong all night. Although we were taking photos during the cocktail hour and never saw our guitarist, I am confident that he too was a good addition to the party because my guests have complimented me on his music since.
Pros: Easy to work with, very helpful and affordable prices
Cons: It's a little nerve wracking to be 'assigned' to a dj that you haven't chosen yourself, but it worked out well for me!
