Editorial Review for Hollywood Forever Cemetery – by Kim Cooper
The Background
Founded in 1899, the former Hollywood Memorial Park has a checkered past: legendary movie star interments, scandal-plagued management and a mid-'90s bankruptcy that led to new ownership and a name change. Forever Enterprises has initiated extensive restoration of the grounds and now offers a revolutionary form of remembrance. Futuristic video memorials--combining family videos, interviews and even favorite songs of the deceased--let folks decide beforehand how they'll be remembered.
The Appeal
Luminaries interred on the grounds include Cecil B. DeMille, Douglas Fairbanks, Tyrone Power and Marion Davies. A rocket scientist is memorialized with a huge model of one of his aerodynamic designs. Newer monuments for members of the local Armenian community, featuring a stark black-and-white theme, are architecturally fascinating.

My friends and I go as much as we can. Bring in our own liquor, food, and watch movies under the stars. Sooo awesome. The cemetery thing at first was a little creepy, but you don't get all spooked out here...they have cool tiki tourches that light your path, a dj that spins while you eat... Movies are the best...You have to go with the right crowd...If they're boring, then so are you...hahaha... Well, we love it....$10.00 for a great movie sounded by friends and my honey...anytime.
Pros: Unique...nothing like it anywhere else...
Cons: the potty's...but atleast there is somewhere to go...

The movies played here are actually quite charming. Let me tell you, I'm scared of scarry things. The girl no one should take to a scary movie scared, but this cemetary had a good vibe. It was a well organized event and there's great security. Parking may be some trouble, but all in all, a pleasant experiance.
