Editorial Review for Morton's--CLOSED – by Citysearch Editors

The Scene
Legendary for its Oscar-night parties and over-the-cognac Hollywood handshakes. Starstruck celebrity watchers can often see their favorite actors in culinary repose--particularly on Mondays at lunchtime--but larger-than-life prices make it a ticket few can afford.

The Food
The cuisine at Morton's stands out, though it falls just short of stupendous. The filet mignon does not disappoint, but neither does it impress. Far more memorable is the ahi tuna, carefully pan-seared and encrusted with sesame seeds for a subtle interplay of taste and texture. A surprise is the Morton's salad, an ordinary starter given exceptional personality by a careful mix of crisp greens and baby shrimp, dressed with a light vinaigrette. Rack of lamb arrives crisp--seared on the outside, but morsel-soft inside--a top-notch execution of this high-end dish.

There are no negatives about this legendary restaurant. The service is perfect, the food is great and the crowd is fun. No matter when you go there is always a celeb or big shot producer there. It is a shame that restaurant is closing in a few months but try it while you can. Be sure to try the chicken spring rolls and T-Bone steak.

Pros: Food, Service & Crowd

Cons: Valet can take a little long sometimes

I took friends from out of town to Mortons and we had a great time. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. We had great wine and the filet was amazing. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in the mood for a great steak.

Pros: Food, Service

Cons: Pricey
